Breaking: Efcc, Kuje Correctional Center, Spotted Fighting For Maina Custody As Former Pensions Boss, Bags 8-Years Jail Term

It was very embarrassing for the Kuje correctional Centre and the EFCC to be fighting for the custody of Maina right at the court premises. They are probably fighting for the largese from Maina while he was smiling, Nigeria law is for the poor.

The former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, has been sentenced to 8 years imprisonment.

Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja handed Maina the jail sentence, in a ruling on Monday.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), had arraigned Maina and his son, Faisal, on charges of operating fictitious bank accounts, corruption, and money laundering, to the tune of N2bn.

Aside from that, the Judge ordered that over N3bn cash in his numerous bank account be forfeited to the federal government alongside his three cosh house’s in Abuja.

Maina is also to forfeit all his bulletproof jeeps, BMW cars among others.

The court also found Maina guilty of concealing his true identity as a signatory to accounts opened in UBA and Fidelity bank by using the identity of his family members without their knowledge.

These accounts had cash deposits of N300 million, N500 million and 1.5 billion respectively.

His firm, Common Input Property and Investment Ltd., also standing trial, was found guilty.
